Established on June 14, 1922, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is the licensing and regulating body for professional engineering in the province. PEO operates under the authority of the Professional Engineers Act to serve and protect the public interest by setting and upholding high academic, experience and professional practice standards for the engineering profession. As society evolves, each new year brings advances to how we live and work and new challenges we must face. As an organization whose primary focus is to protect the public interest, PEO must adapt to society’s changing needs to ensure its continued safety.
The Vice-President, Regulatory Operations and Deputy Registrar is a member of the executive leadership team that will head a multi-year operational transformation in a complex stakeholder environment. Reporting to the CEO/Registrar, the Vice-President and Deputy Registrar is an active leader who will contribute to organizational renewal by consolidating, streamlining, and evolving regulatory functions and ensuring that PEO is endowed with the structure and competencies it requires to be successful. The Vice-President is responsible for the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the licensing process, complaint investigations, discipline prosecutions and enforcement functions so that they are technologically enabled, secure, defensible, and coordinated.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced leader with the ability to operationalize a strategic plan while leveraging excellence in managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines, in a multifaceted stakeholder environment. You are a dynamic leader who is well versed in change management, executive decision making, and can act as Deputy Registrar in carrying out all statutory functions assigned to the Registrar. A strategic thinker with a proven track record to work effectively with an elected and appointed Council and Committees, you are adept at providing members with information and tools to make informed decisions around issues which may impact public protection and its Regulated Members. You build critical relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups and have a deep understanding of how to prioritize organizational challenges. Your staff and peers would describe you as balanced, supportive, and collaborative in your efforts to execute on top priorities and as a critical thinker, focused, and principled in your approach to solving problems.
A degree in Engineering and a P.Eng. in good standing are requirements for the role. Achievement of an MBA is preferred. Additionally, familiarity with administrative law, specifically in a regulatory environment, would be an asset.
